Orange County Clerk of Courts Social Media Policy


The social media pages for the Orange County Clerk of Courts (OCCC) is managed by the Office of Communications and Community Affairs of the Orange County Clerk of Courts.

Our pages are limited in scope, created to provide the public access to information about the Clerk’s Office and its services, as well to provide an additional means to interact with the Clerk’s Office. The pages are not designated nor intended to be a platform for political views or for discussion about individual court cases.

Comments posted by others on any social media page of the Clerk’s Office are not to be considered the opinion of the Clerk’s Office nor does the Clerk’s Office endorse any third-party comments on these pages.

The Clerk’s Office encourages people to provide comments related to content on this page.
Before posting, please review the terms below:

  • A posting on this page constitutes acceptance of these terms.
  • If you post information related to a case, that post may be removed and, you may be placing yourself in the position of becoming a witness in court proceedings.

  • The acceptance of a friend “like” between the Clerk’s Office and a citizen does not indicate endorsement of that person's actions or comments.
  • The Clerk’s Office reserves the right to remove and/or block anyone who posts inappropriate material as determined by the Clerk’s Office.
  • The Clerk’s Office reserves the right to hide or remove any comments that are inappropriate or offensive, including comments that:
    • defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or violate the legal rights of others,
    • include racism, hatred, slander, threats, obscenity, violence, vulgarity, name calling,
    • spam or advertisements that are political or commercial in nature,
    • have personal information about another person or that violate a person's privacy interests,
    • include copyrighted material belonging to another person,
    • advertisements including links to commercial or political websites,
    • contain links to inappropriate or offensive websites,
    • are not related or inappropriate to the post they are written on.
  • If you have photos or videos you'd like to share on our social media pages, please send it to us in a direct message for approval. We reserve the right to remove photos or videos for a variety of reasons, including potential copyright or privacy violations.

Please note that our social media pages are not continuously monitored, and for this additional reason, the Clerk's Office requests anyone posting on our pages understands and follows this policy provided above.
