Employee Benefits

Orange County Clerk of Courts Talent Acquisition

The Clerk works with Orange County officials to provide a competitive package of employee benefit programs for all eligible employees. Complete and official details of insurance and payroll plans are contained in materials which employees receive on their first day of work. These descriptions are only brief summaries for your general information. Contact a Talent Management representative for more details. The existence of these employee benefits and plans, in and of themselves, does not signify that an employee will be employed for the requisite time necessary to qualify for all benefits and plans.

Group Insurance

The Clerk makes available health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance for employees and their dependents. The Clerk pays a portion of the health insurance premiums. Benefits become effective on the first pay period following completion of 60 days of employment.

Retirement Benefits

The Clerk operates under the provisions of the State of Florida Retirement System (FRS). Under the plan, the Clerk makes a contribution towards your retirement each pay period. Employees are also required to make contributions towards their retirement each pay period. Employees may choose to participate in either the FRS Pension Plan or the Investment Plan. Detailed information regarding the plans is discussed in benefits orientation. Additional information regarding the FRS can be found at myfrs.com.

Deferred Compensation Program

To help employees supplement their retirement income, the Clerk offers a voluntary deferred compensation plan. This plan allows employees to defer a certain portion of their earnings on a pre-tax basis. The plan is administered through Vanguard.

Employee Leave

Our vacation plan is designed to provide employees with the opportunity to rest and get away from the everyday routine. New employees accrue vacation leave for each hour worked at a rate of .0693 per hour. You may accumulate about three and one-half weeks of vacation time during your first year of employment.

This federal legislation allows eligible employees up to 12 weeks of leave per 12-month period for the following: the birth or placement of a child; the employee's serious health condition; or the serious health condition of a spouse, child or parent of the employee; qualifying situations arising out of the fact that the employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent is on active duty or called to active duty status as a member of the National Guard or Reserves in support of a contingency operation; or leave to care for an injured or ill member or veteran of the military. You must first use all of your accrued vacation and sick leave when granted a leave of absence under FMLA. The remainder of your leave period will be unpaid.

Employee Assistance Program

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides employees and their families with confidential counseling services at no cost. Experienced professional counselors provide information, immediate treatment or referral to other sources.

On-site parking is available at each branch location. Employees who choose to park in locations other than assigned spaces do so at their own expense.
